Introduction And Mechanism

FibroScan utilizes vibration-controlled transient elastography to non-invasively assess liver fibrosis and steatosis.
It functions as a rapid, 5 to 10-minute outpatient point-of-care procedure, replacing the need for invasive liver biopsies in pediatric chronic liver disease.
Pediatric-specific S-probes are utilized for children under 3 years of age or those with smaller liver volumes.

Significant Fibrosis: Multicenter 2026 Indian analyses confirm an LSM threshold of 8.2 kPa or higher accurately identifies significant fibrosis (F≥2) with a high negative predictive value.
